CroatiaReport recently visited the newly opened Tesla museum at the birthplace of Nikola Tesla, one of the greatest inventors coming out of this region and beyond. The museum/center was opened for the occasion of 150 years since Tesla's birth (born July 10, 1856).
The thematic park is very well organized and consists of the newly renovated birth house of Nikola Tesla (rebuilt several times), a Serbian Orthodox church (where his father was a minister) and a multimedia center. In addition there are numerous exhibits in the open, including an authentic looking old barn, the little brook where Tesla used to play with an exhibit on it. And there is a futuristic looking children's playground.
The center/museum is fastly becoming a tourist attraction, very accesible from the main highway Zagreb-Split (take the Gospic exit and follow the well marked road with signs for the museum in Smiljan (Smiljan is about 5 kilometers from Gospic).
